How to add a text watermark

  1. Upload your PDF. A preview of page one appears so you can position the watermark visually.
  2. Enter the text (e.g. CONFIDENTIAL, DRAFT, SAMPLE) and pick the font size, rotation, opacity, and position (diagonal centre, bottom-right, etc.).
  3. Click Apply watermark. The text is stamped onto every page using pdf-lib, and you get a download link.

When a watermark helps

Frequently asked

Can the watermark be removed later?

A determined person could re-extract the original page images and rebuild the file. A text watermark is a deterrent, not encryption. For real protection, combine with the Protect PDF tool to lock copying and editing.

Does diagonal vs horizontal matter?

Diagonal centre is harder to crop out than a bottom-corner label, so it is the standard for CONFIDENTIAL-style warnings. Horizontal looks cleaner for subtle branding.

Can I use an image as a watermark?

This tool handles text watermarks. For a logo stamp, use the PDF + Image tool to place a PNG on each page.

Will the watermark show up in print?

Yes. Because it is drawn directly on the page content stream, it prints exactly as it appears on screen, at the opacity you chose.

Privacy: Watermarking is a local operation. Your PDF is never uploaded — the stamped file is built with pdf-lib inside this browser tab.
